This large-scale mural was designed and painted to bring energy, movement, and a sense of identity to the newly constructed gymnasium at John Calvin Elementary School in Yarrow. Inspired by the surrounding Fraser Valley landscape, the flowing forms echo rolling hills, mountain ranges, and natural contours, creating a visual connection between the school and its local environment.
The layered shades of blue were carefully selected to promote a calm, welcoming atmosphere while adding depth and movement across the expansive wall surface. The design works in harmony with the architecture of the gym, guiding the eye across the space and transforming a large blank wall into a vibrant focal point.
Spanning the full length of the gymnasium, the mural enhances the environment for students, staff, and visitors, creating a space that feels both inspiring and uniquely connected to the community. The result is a modern, timeless artwork that balances simplicity, scale, and impact.
